PM Modi on ramping up testing to cease corona infection spike in India

So, our prime minister has accentuated the importance of increasing testing counts rather than being obsessed with vaccinations. According to his opinions, we fought bravely the first wave of coronavirus infection in 2020 at a time when even imagining about the covid vaccine seemed a far-fetched reality. Basically, his viewpoint was that States should not get worried about the rising cases of people being tested corona positive.

The prime focus must be testing, testing, and mounting up its numbers. I found that statement quite relieving, as it bears a semblance of a practical solution to the rising corona cases. Most importantly, it will rein in the rising number of FAKE news circulating all over digital platforms and media outlets about the virus.

At least it is now clear that vaccination will be given to only ELIGIBLE people based on their age-marking by the government of India. The task of vaccinating the deserving citizens will be carried out with its own natural space but in the meantime, all the States must not show laxity in the enforcement of corona protocols in their regions.

They are supposed to ensure mounting up the number of testing, irrespective of whether it shows a fearful picture of increasing cases. I believe that it comes as clarity for everyone who was under the wrong impression that massive lockdown all over India is in the offing, given the increasing number of corona cases from some States, including Delhi and Maharashtra.

The prime minister has stressed micro containment zone management, a tactic that will ensure speedy detection of the person/s infected with the virus, rather than declaring all the neighboring apartments or buildings a containment zone. PM also requested the nation’s young generations to come forward and lend their contribution in helping the helpless elderly and those eligible for covid vaccinations to the nearest center for inoculation.

While some may argue that the statement of PM also demonstrates that the stock of vaccines that India claims to have is less than meeting the demanding situation faced by the frontline workers and medical staff engaged in vaccination drive to the eligible Indian citizens. However, I believe that the PM didn’t mean to give any wrong message here.

His emphasis on testing people rather than focusing on vaccinations is the meaning of India’s strategy to handle the second wave of corona cases in a proactive manner, given vaccination is not a reliable shield against the covid infection, as PM himself said to the nation that even vaccinated people can get infected if they don’t maintain corona protocols.

He also cited a reference, saying just because someone has cured his cough by using syrup doesn’t mean he will not catch it again if he doesn’t protect himself with an umbrella while going outside in rainfall. His implication was, don’t fool yourself into believing that vaccination can provide you solid protection against corona infection and therefore, even the vaccinated people require adherence to corona protocols, such as wearing masks and maintaining social distance in public places.

Let’s see the proactive measures to be adopted by the States and how effective they may prove in the cessation of corona infections. As of now, the battle to rein-in the pandemic is going to mount up pressure on everyone, given the coordination not among the States but also among the young citizens will be required, including adherence to the protocols mandated thereof.
